Injectable Dermal Fillers
Youthful skin contains an abundance of a natural hydrating material called hyaluronic acid.
Over time, progressive loss of this material causes decreased skin tone and volume, creating lines and wrinkles. Environmental factors such as exposure to sunlight, smoking and poor skin care can also contribute to the creation of these lines. Fortunately, new technology has been developed to help restore facial volume and soften lines and wrinkles. These non-surgical treatments are performed by the precise injection of material beneath the skin. There are a variety of different products on the market, each with a special advantage for certain conditions. For that reason, our office may use several different products specifically tailored to your needs after a consultation with our nurse specialist.
Juvederm is a gel consisting of a natural occurring hyaluronic acid molecule. It is injected beneath the skin to help restore volume and soften lines and wrinkles. Juvederm may also be used to add definition to the lips, cheeks or chin, and to help minimize the appearance of scars. Treatments take about 30 minutes to administer. A topical anesthetic may be used prior to administration and most patients have little or no discomfort. After treatment mild redness or irritation may occur but these side effects are temporary and disappear over a few days. You will notice an immediate improvement, and although results may vary, the correction may last for up to a year.
JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC
With JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC, an Allergan product, patients can increase the fullness of their lips in addition to softening the appearance of lines near the lips (perioral lines). Results are expected to last for around a year. JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is made with a lower concentration of hyaluronic acid than other JUVÉDERM fillers which helps create a smooth and subtle volume increase to the lips. This lip filler also contains a small amount of local anesthetic to create less discomfort during injections. To decrease the lines around your lips and to create a subtle increase in lip plumpness, consider this treatment.
The mid-face is one of the first areas to show signs of aging and Voluma is specifically designed to restore this age related volume loss in the cheek. It is a brand-new product, recently approved by the FDA, and is somewhat thicker and more resistant to degradation than regular HA fillers. Voluma gives the cheek area a subtle lift, helping to restore a more a youthful contour and appearance. Clinical studies have proven this product can last up to 2 years with optimal treatment. The injections will take about 30 minutes to administer.
Restylane is an HA filler. This product is marketed by Galderma and is comparable to Juvederm. Restylane has been used for more than a decade in more than 15 million treatments. This product is excellent for lip enhancement as well as treatment of moderate to deep lines. Treatment takes about 30 minutes to administer. Results may vary, but most patients can expect at least a 9-12 month correction.
Sculptra works by a different mechanism than the other fillers. It consists of molecules of poly-l-lactic acid, which is a biodegradable product and has been used in different forms by physicians for decades. Rather than producing instant results, Sculptra stimulates the production of our own collagen, which gradually builds and gives volume to tissue. Therefore it is technically a “volumizer” rather than a “filler”. Treatment usually consists of a few sessions scheduled 4-6 weeks apart. The injections will take approximately 45 minutes to administer. It is an excellent choice to produce overall volume replacement in someone with a very thin face. Sculptra is not an overnight miracle, but it is long-lasting and patients can have experienced corrections lasting up to 2 years or more. Sculptra can be combined with other fillers to give instant improvement with long-lasting results.

I had interviewed several doctors and my decision to have Dr Berris MD provide my surgical procedures was by far my best possible choice. And thank you so very much to his staff.
From first appointment for evaluation, staff getting authorization for upper eyelid surgery and forehead lift, and then to surgery, all staff were so helpful, courteous, and caring. I would refer others to Dr. Craig Berris.
